Spring into a Cool Summer
Waste-busting treats to cool and refresh!
With summer just around the corner, we’re sharing ideas to transform the last of your spring produce into cool, refreshing treats. Let's dive in!
Ice your fruit.
Preserve fresh spring berries like strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and blackberries by freezing them into ice cubes! A delightful addition to your favourite summer drinks.
Redeem avocados.
Don’t discard ripe avocados and overripe bananas. Blend together and freeze to create a healthy and creamy ice cream that’s perfect for summer. Flavour to suit your tastes by adding honey, fresh mint, vanilla or coconut milk.
Juice your greens.
Get creative with spinach before it wilts, carrots before they bend and bananas before they brown! Experiment with combinations to excite your taste buds.
Chill your yoghurt.
Use up yoghurt before it reaches it use by date by making it into a creamy summer snack. Spread full fat yoghurt on a lined baking sheet, top with berries and granola and pop in the freezer until firm. Perfect as a delicious treat on a hot day.
Freeze your fruit.
Hit the pause button on fruit before it goes to waste. Frozen berries can elevate your smoothie bowls or breakfasts, while frozen grapes make irresistible sweet treats for your next trip to the beach.
With these tips, you can minimise your food waste and enjoy the vibrant flavours of seasonal spring produce well into summer.
