Every year in NSW, an estimated 1.7 million tonnes of food is wasted, up to 70% of which is edible.

While most of us think we only throw out small amounts every now and then*, every day households are the largest contributor of food waste in NSW, dumping 688,000 tonnes of food annually, at a cost of around $2,100 to the average household’s hip pocket.

To help shift the dial, the Love Food Hate Waste team has revamped its Food Smart program into a month-long challenge designed to introduce new skills and put them to the test. Sign up today and and we’ll send you all the tools, tips and tricks you’ll need.

Each week, we'll focus on a different topic to help you reduce your food waste ranging from sorting your storage to planning like a pro. We’ll share food stats and facts, and challenge you to put our easy, food-saving hacks to the test in your everyday life - we promise you’ll see a difference!

To kick-start your food waste-busting journey, we'll send you a Love Food kit full of reusable food-saving goodies including a shopping bag, veggie bags, food covers and bag clips.

Registrations for our first Love Food Challenge have closed. If you missed out, don't fret! We'll be running another round soon, so add your name to our waiting list and we'll let you know as soon as we're ready to go.
